Dream Desk Setup
Real working desks, documented item by item with receipts, so you can learn what each product actually does for the person who uses it, weigh the honest pros and cons, and know exactly what to check before you buy.
Who publishes this
Dream Desk Setup is a publication of Direct To Growth Co. Inc., Victoria, BC, Canada, a growth advisory for direct-to-consumer brands. The first desk on the site belongs to the company's Chief Growth Officer, and the company bought that gear for its own work, which is why receipts exist for most of it and why purchase prices are shown in Canadian dollars. The company may earn affiliate commissions once programs are approved; see the disclosure.
The owner of Desk № 001
T.R., Chief Growth Officer at Direct To Growth Co., Victoria, BC.
His days are dashboards, ad accounts and spreadsheets: Amazon advertising, Google Analytics and Ads, Shopify operations, and the client calls that go with them. Most of the screen time is dense tables and side-by-side comparisons, not video or design.
He runs two Mac minis: an M5 Pro for the day-to-day work and an older M4 that stays on as a background machine for AI and automation jobs. Both sit under the shelf and share the same display, keyboard and mouse.
Calls happen from this chair several times a day, so the desk is lit from the front and the microphone lives on an arm. The same setup records the walkthroughs for this site.
The room is small: a wall on one side, a curtain on the other, no floor space beside the desk. Every purchase gets fit math before it gets a verdict.
What the desk has to do for him
- Text sharpness on dense spreadsheets over everything else; a gentle curve, no OLED burn-in risk
- One cable from the main machine to the whole desk, and a one-button switch to the second machine
- Looks and sounds good on a call without a studio: front light, a close mic, eye line near the call window
- Nothing on the floor; storage has to hang under the desk or sit on the shelf
- Sit-to-stand through the day with cables that survive the travel
- Canada-first buying in CAD, with the receipt kept, because the company owns the gear

Why this site exists
Most desk content is about how a desk looks. This is the version that answers the questions people have when they are actually buying: does this screen layout help with dashboards? Where does the microphone go so it is not in the shot? Which of the "must-have" accessories would the owner skip if they were doing it again?
What makes it different
Every recommendation includes the actual problem, the evidence, the tradeoff, and an alternative. Products are labeled by how the site knows what it knows: owned and used by the desk owner, hands-on tested, researched, or pending verification. Pending items are shown for transparency but never recommended. Each product page carries a comment from the owner, in their own words, about why it is on the desk.
More desks
Desk № 001 is the template. Other operators' desks are being added as numbered desk setups with the same structure: pins on a real photo, an item list, receipts where the owner can share them, and the owner's comments on each piece. Share yours.
How the site is produced
AI tools help organize evidence, draft structure, research prices and keep product records current. They do not supply experience. Every owner quote on this site maps to a note, recording, receipt or test record from that owner. When there is no source, the page asks a question instead of inventing an answer.
