How stable is a 47-inch dual-motor desk with a 27 lb monitor on it?

What problem did I have?
A desk that is boxed in: wall on the right, curtain on the left, no floor space beside it. Everything has to live on or under the desktop, and the desk has to move up and down with a 40-inch monitor on it.
Ownership and daily workflow
Bought Oct 11, 2025 from Desky.ca: Dual Laminate Sit Stand Desk, 47.2 x 29.5 in, Natural Walnut top, Matte Black frame, C$699 (from C$729) with code DESKYG30. The same order added the Minimal Under Desk Drawer (C$169), the Integrated Cable & Power Channel (C$109.90), the microphone boom arm (C$54.90), a foot rest and an anti-fatigue mat. The controller is mounted front-left. In Sept 2026 I added the Ultra Slim Under Desk Drawer, No Gap version (C$99.90), plus cable clips and magnetic cable management.
The fit math
Two drawers under a 47-inch desk: 15 in (Minimal) + 16.1 in (Ultra Slim) = 31.1 in against a 33-35 in leg opening. That only works if the existing drawer is hard against a leg. I measured for 16.5 in of clearance and 3 in of thigh room before ordering. Measure yours.
What I did not buy
The Desky Wooden Minimal Filing Cabinet (C$549+). No floor space, no paper to file. The C$99.90 Ultra Slim drawer solved the actual problem, which was loose small items on the desktop.
Tests
- Usable space: measured after the display, shelf, mat and mic arm are placed (capture pending).
- Real load: 27 lb monitor, two Mac minis, shelf, lights. What happens at full height.
- Wobble: repeatable push test at sitting and standing height, filmed. Result described, not declared “rock solid.”
Pros, cons, and alternatives
Dual motors rated to 140 kg, 60-125 cm range, ~36 mm/s, memory presets, 10-year frame warranty, free Canadian shipping. The laminate top is the entry finish; Desky’s bamboo and rubberwood tops are the step up if a sale lines up.
Would I pay for it again?
Yes. Price was the tiebreaker, not the driver: it does the job, it fits the corner, and Desky’s accessories solved the storage problem without a cabinet.

Buy it if: You are in Canada, space-constrained, and want dual motors, memory presets and a 10-year frame warranty for about C$700.
Skip it if: You want a solid-wood top, a wider surface, or you will not actually stand.
Main drawback: Fit math is tight: a 47.2-inch top leaves 33-35 inches between the legs, so under-desk add-ons have to be planned.
