Pros

  • Asymmetric front light, no glare on the panel
  • Rear backlight for bias lighting behind the monitor
  • Wireless desk controller with an auto-dim sensor
  • Aluminium build, 2700-6500 K stepless

Cons

  • Discontinued; new stock is scarce
  • Expensive next to budget bars that match the front light
  • Controller puck can be slow to wake
  • Backlight coverage is small compared with the Halo 2

Why it is on the owner's desk

Lights the keyboard and paper without putting glare on the screen; the round controller on the right adjusts it from his seat. The question it answers for a buyer: Does a light bar fit a 40-inch curved screen?

From the owner · T.R.

“On the desk since January 2024 and it has survived three monitors. It sits on the curved Dell without fuss. The round controller lives at the far right of the desk; it is the one thing on the desk that still takes batteries.”

Specs that matter

  • Up to 800 lux centre, 2700-6500 K
  • Rear backlight, 63 x 40 cm at 500 lux
  • USB powered, 5 V / 1.3 A; 50 cm long
  • Wireless battery controller with ambient sensor

Alternatives weighed

  • BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2 (researched, US$199): the current model, with a rechargeable touch controller and a much larger backlight
  • BenQ ScreenBar Plus / basic ScreenBar (researched): same front light without the backlight for ~US$100-130

Check before ordering
